How to Host a Dinner Party Without the Stress

You put all efforts into work all week long. All you need now is not a heart attack about soufflé. Dinner parties are supposed to be fun, not torture for a host. Come on, perfectionism is not the thing you need here, but the good mood is.

The first thing is to reduce the list of invitees. Do not invite too much people, six is the perfect number for a conversation that does not end up in loneliness. Invite people with diverse views but not energy vampires, you definitely can recognize them. The less guests, the more time you spend on enjoying your dinner party, not cooking.

The menu is a place where guys go bananas. You shouldn’t try something like Beef Wellington on the game night. Stay within your comfort zone, pasta or braised meat would be just fine. Try to cook as much as possible the day before the event. Not chopping the onions at 6 PM when your guests are coming at 7 PM. You should be drinking your drink while opening the door for your guests, not chopping onions.

The ambiance is very important as well. Turn off all lights and switch to dimmed ones. This way you will not see any dust, and it makes you younger. Prepare your playlist in advance and do not press the shuffle button on your “Chill Vibes”. Music is a great option in case of silence while eating.

Having drinks is must at any dinner party. Buy a lot of ice. And buy even more ice. Cocktail pitcher is a wise choice, this way you won’t work as a bartender. Take the good wine and drink it, don’t think about pairing rules.

No matter what, just smile. Burnt garlic – it’s smoky. Your cat knocked down a vase? It’s rustic charm. You invited your guests to spend time, not for that, so enjoy your evening.
